Ana Teresa has a PhD in Human Genetics from the Institute of Cancer Research (UK) and eight years of postdoctoral experience at the University of Cambridge before establishing her independent research group at the University of Algarve. She is a cancer genetics and genomics specialist, from leukaemias to solid tumours, with over 25 years of research experience. Her research group focused on applying computational biology tools to understand the underlying biology of cancers, primarily breast cancer, to identify clinically useful biomarkers. Her research has resulted in her being the Principal Inventor of two patent requests and pioneering studies published in high-impact scientific journals. She has led internationally funded projects and was awarded multiple scientific and entrepreneurial prizes. Recently, Ana Teresa developed business skills by obtaining an Executive MBA at Quantic School of Technology and Business and attending innovation programs and accelerators in Portugal and Spain.
